Learn About Posts

You can find the Posts section of your website in your Dashboard menu.

A Post is defined as any information that is dynamic, which is the opposite of a Page, which is static. Dynamic information is included in a list, typically on a Blog page, and it updates automatically each time you add a new Post. This is also called a feed.

Static content, such as Pages, contain the main content of your site, and do not change often, if at all. This content is what makes up the Navigation Menu of your website.

Content that would be best sorted into Posts include blog posts, articles, or news items, depending on the functionality your site dictates. Many people have both a blog and a news section, which feed out of the Posts. This feature is managed by using Categories.

A typical Post will contain a Title, Body Content, and a Featured Image. Posts are automatically dated at the time they're Published.

A Post Title should be succinct, descriptive, and to the point. It should be fewer than 12 words, and it's helpful if the title is something that will help visitors find your post while searching on Google.

The Body Content is what makes up your post. Your content can be just text, links to other resources, photographs or graphics, links to documents uploaded to your Media uploads, or a combination of all of these things.

A Featured Image is a photograph or graphic that will give users an at-a-glance idea of what your article is about.
