Using WordPress Menus

Setting up a new menu in WordPress is very easy, once you understand the basics.

To begin, log into your site, and navigate to Appearance -> Menus. You'll need to start by creating a new menu. First, name it something that makes sense, such as Main Menu, or Main Navigation. Once named, you can choose what items to include in your menu from the area on the left.

WordPress is set up to make this process very simple, and your options are already populated for you from the content you've created.

On the left side of the page, you can choose to create a menu from existing Pages, Posts, and Categories. You can also create custom menu items in case you want to include links that do not exist on your current site.

Just check the box for the items you want to add, click Add to Menu, and then put them in whatever order you prefer. You can do this by simply clicking and dragging the items around.

Next, you may see the option to choose what menu position this menu should hold. You could have options like Main Menu, Top Menu, or Footer Menu. Just check the appropriate box.

Once you're happy, hit Save Menu, and your new menu will be live on your site.
